Brandon Pettigrew had five receptions for 37 yards off six targets during Monday night's game between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. We break down the fantasy implications.
Brandon Pettigrew had five receptions for 37 yards during the Detroit Lions' loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night. The tight end was targeted six times on the night by quarterback Matthew Stafford. Calvin Johnson, Titus Young and Mikel Leshoure were all targeted more often.
Pettigrew has now caught at least five passes in all but two games this season. He has yet to catch a touchdown since Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, however.
Fantasy Impact: Pettigrew's high catch rate was a nice surprise for fantasy owners after the tight end was only able to haul in three of seven targets in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. While Pettigrew has been a nice prospect this season, he could be even better if not for ongoing problems holding onto the ball.
Pettigrew is also very limited by a struggling Lions' offense. He should shine within the red zone, but every time Detroit approaches the goal-line it chokes. On Monday, it scored on just one of its four trips thanks to a garbage-time pass to Ryan Broyles with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
