Trent Richardson injury: Fantasy status improves after participating in walkthrough

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

Trent Richardson participated in the Browns' walkthrough this week, according to head coach Pat Shurmur. We break down the fantasy implications.

Trent Richardson participated in the Cleveland Browns' walkthrough this week, according to head coach Pat Shurmur. Richardson sat out the the second half of last week's game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a ribs cartilage injury, but Shurmur said Wednesday that the running back did not suffer any kind of setback.

Shurmur emphasized Richardson would play this week against the San Diego Chargers if healthy. Richardson is apparently playing through a lot of pain, causing him to be ineffective.

Fantasy Impact: Even if Richardson does see the field this weekend, it is difficult to imagine that he will carry a full load. Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya have been effective in recent weeks, and Richardson could use a bit of rest.

Keep a close eye on how much Richardson is actually able to participate in practice this week if you own him in any of your leagues. If he is able to take contact in practice, perhaps he will be a better option than people think against a mediocre Chargers run defense.
