The 3-4 New York Jets host the 3-3 Miami Dolphins in a huge Week 8 AFC East showdown. The AFC East is unexpectedly tight with one game separating the four teams. Nobody can take control of the race yet, but a Dolphins loss would drop them to 0-2 in the division. From a fantasy perspective, there is not a ton to like in this game, but in order to prepare you for fantasy football each week, we are adding game-by-game projections courtesy of numberFire.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins offense has been inconsistent much of the season and that can be seen in both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Reggie Bush. Neither is projected for big numbers in this road matchup. Bush remains a guy you start each week, but it remains to be seen which Reggie Bush you will get.
The Dolphins passing attack is a sizable question mark. Brian Hartline was a waiver wire darling early in the season, but he has seen his numbers struggle with Ryan Tannehill's inconsistent performances. Hartline is a solid enough flex option and possible WR2, particularly if you have bye week concerns.
New York Jets
The Jets offense is probable best described as bad with occasional strong performances. Nobody on this team better exemplifies this than Shonn Greene. The Jets running back was atrocious Week 2 through 5, and then blew up in Week 6 with 161 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He had a decent enough Week 7 performance at the Patriots, but now faces a Dolphins rush defense that is among the best in the league. He is a guy you should probably start, but remember the roller coaster ride he provides.
As for the Jets passing attack? Mark Sanchez is not a guy you start, even in bye week situations. However, Jeremy Kerley was his go-to guy last week and is worth a flex start in many leagues, or a WR2 start if you have bye week issues. He is at the mercy of the Sanchise, but he brings upside.
