Raiders vs. Chiefs: Fantasy football projections featuring Darren McFadden, Denarius Moore, Jamaal Charles

Kevin C. Cox

We break down the pertinent fantasy projections for the Week 8 matchup between the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs host the Oakland Riaders in a matchup of the bottom two teams in a still relatively tight AFC West. Given the questionable defenses involved, this matchup could prove ripe for fantasy pickings. In order to prepare you for fantasy football this week, we've got player projections courtesy of numberFire.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders offense is struggling to get much of anything going, leaving plenty of fantasy question marks. Darren McFadden has been one of the most frustrating running backs in the league, alternating double digit point totals, and exceeding 100 rushing yards once. He remains a guy worth starting in some instances, but if you have some better, more consistent options, bench McFadden.

The Raiders passing game is all over the place. Denarius Moore remains the most consistent option. Darrius Heyward-Bey is back in action, hauling in four receptions for 85 yards last week. He appears to be fully healthy, but you probably want to wait another week before playing him.

Kansas City Chiefs

While the Chiefs are struggling to get victories, Jamaal Charles remains a strong fantasy option. He struggled against Tampa Bay last week, but otherwise he remains a guy worth starting relatively comfortably. It is worth noting that Peyton Hillis is listed as probable this week, and likely will return to action. He was expected to undercut Charles' fantasy value, but given Charles' production when Hillis was out, it is tough to tell what Hillis' role will be this week.

Speaking of injuries, Matt Cassell appears to be recovered from his concussion. Nonetheless, Brady Quinn appears to be the starter in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. Quinn is not a viable fantasy option right now, but that does not necessarily hurt Dwayne Bowe's value too much. Bowe is not a fantastic option with Quinn, but against the Raiders struggling defense, Bowe remains a valuable wide receiver option.
