Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman have been marked inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins, leaving Jonathan Dwyer to handle the Steelers' rushing load. We break down the fantasy implications.
Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) and Isaac Redman (ankle) are inactive for Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins. As a result, Jonathan Dwyer is expected to see near exclusive carries out of the backfield.
While Mendenhall had been ruled out earlier in the week, Redman was considered a game-time decision. He was able to practice throughout the week, but only on a limited basis.
Fantasy Impact: After rushing for 122 yards last week, Dwyer will be a popular fantasy option Sunday. He is the Steelers' only viable every-down back at the moment, which should set him up for near-exclusive carries.
Be aware, however, that the Redskins' defensive front has been excellent this year. On the season, they are giving up just 85.3 yards rushing per game at a 3.9 yards per carry clip. Still, if a bye week has left you desperate for a starting running back, then Dwyer is an excellent option.
