Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

Trent Richardson is active for Sunday's game between the Cleveland Browns and the San Diego Chargers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Trent Richardson is active for Sunday's game between the Cleveland Browns and the San Diego Chargers. He was able to practice this week despite a ribs cartilage injury that made him ineffective last week against the Indianapolis Colts. Richardson did not play in the second half of the loss.

It is unclear if Richardson will split carries with Montario Hardesty, and what the split will be. Chris Ogbonnaya could also see more looks if Richardson is limited, though he is more of a third-down/receiving threat.

Fantasy Impact: Richardson will see the field, head coach Pat Shurmur has emphasized throughout the week. It remains to be seen what kind of role he will take on, however, especially now that the team has some idea of how the injury affects him.

The uncertainty and a tough matchup against the Chargers probably makes Richardson a Flex play at best in standard leagues. You may want to avoid starting him if you can afford to.
