Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin is on pace to set the rookie franchise rushing record. We break down the fantasy implications.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin is on pace to break the franchise rookie record for rushing yards in a season. Martin has 543 yards through seven games and The Tampa Bay Tribune says that puts him on pace to finish with 1,241 this season. The current mark was set by Cadillac Williams in 2005, when he ran for 1,178 yards.
Martin is coming off a 135-yard effort against the Minnesota Vikings. Tampa Bay plays the Oakland Raiders in Week 9.
Fantasy Impact: Martin had his best game of the season in Week 8 and will continue to be the featured back for the Buccaneers going forward. He has had at least 13 carries in every game but one this season and that should not change on Sunday against the Raiders.
Martin is a fringe No. 1 running back in most weeks.
