Brandon Jacobs was a full participant in practice and looks likely to return this week. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs (knee) was able to practice on Wednesday and it seems more and more likely that he'll make his 2012 debut this week against the Bills. Jacobs has been out for weeks with a knee injury and his absence has helped Frank Gore retain his status as one of the top backs in fantasy football, but he could be headed for goal line carries when he is 100% healthy and shakes the rust off. Ted Ginn Jr was on the sidelines with Jacobs for awhile but made his debut last week and had one run for seven yards, with four punt returns for 40. Isaac Sopoaga missed week 4 but also practiced today.
Fantasy Take: Jacobs hasn't earned a spot on any fantasy rosters but will he hurt Gore's value? Not in the short-term as Gore has been too valuable this year with 326 rushing yards, 4.9 yards per carry, and three touchdowns. It could hurt the value of Kendall Hunter and keep LaMichael James as a healthy scratch for awhile.
