The Pittsburgh Steelers' running back situation isn't any clearer heading into Week 9. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Jonathan Dwyer will not participate in practice Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury. Rashard Mendenhall is expected to take part in individual drills despite a heel injury, with Isaac Redman (ankle) also returning in some capacity.
There is no word yet on who will start in the Steelers' backfield on Sunday against the New York Giants. Dwyer had been leading the way the past two weeks, rushing for over 100 yards in consecutive games with Mendenhall and Redman on the sidelines.
Fantasy Impact: The Steelers just can't catch a break in the running game. The minute they seem to have something good going their way, the starter du jour suffers another frustrating setback. You will want to keep a sharp eye on injury reports throughout the week.
If Redman is able to practice with the team, he could have a leg-up for a feature role. The Giants are giving up 4.6 yards per carry on the season, so there is strong fantasy potential for whoever is closest to 100 percent.
