St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher on Tuesday downplayed rumors about running back Steven Jackson being traded. We break down the fantasy implications.
St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson has been the subject of trade rumors this week but coach Jeff Fisher has emphatically denied that Jackson will go anywhere. Fisher said Tuesday (via The St. Louis Post-Dispatch) that "Jackson is our running back" and insisted the team has not been calling around or taking calls about the veteran.
Jackson has 403 rushing yards this season and now shares carries with Daryl Richardson in the St. Louis backfield. The Patriots and Packers are among the teams believed to have shown an interest in acquiring Jackson.
Fantasy Impact: Jackson and his fantasy owners would likely benefit from a trade but Fisher's comments seem to crush any chance that something will happen. Jackson had 23 yards against New England in Week 8 and has seen his fanasy value drop as the season goes along.
The Rams have a bye in Week 9 but fantasy owners should consider him a low-end No. 2 or flex play when the team returns in Week 10.
