Ed Mulholland-US PRESSWIRE
If Tebow remains on the Jets, what could that mean for Mark Sanchez? We break down the fantasy implications.
The New York Jets will not trade quarterback Tim Tebow, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter Wednesday on Sportscenter. Rumors had been swirling that New York could be looking to deal their backup quarterback/wildcat running back, but it appears as though that storm has died down.
The Jets have used Tebow sparingly in the passing game but he does has 23 rush attempts for 78 yards. He hasn't been very effective in his current role, but neither has Mark Sanchez as the starter. Sanchez is completing just 52.9% of his passes for 1,736 yards, 10 TD and 8 INT. Given that Tebow appears set to remain a Jet, will Rex Ryan be looking to replace his ineffective starter for 3-5 New York?
Fantasy Take: I've always said that despite the fact he's not a good real starting quarterback, Tebow has value in fantasy. Touchdowns rule all and he's been a touchdown-maker in his short career as starter. If given the opportunity to take all of the snaps at QB, Tebow could be good for 2 or more touchdowns per game, even if he does complete 40% of his passes.
It might be bad news for Sanchez, if Schefter is correct in his report.
