Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) was limited in practice on Wednesday, while Isaac Redman practiced in full and Jonathan Dwyer got an expected day off. Mendenhall has missed the last three weeks with the injury and has played in just two games on the year. In his absence, Dwyer has started to take off in Pittsburgh.
Dwyer has 229 yards rushing over the last two weeks against the Bengals and Redskins. It's expected that even if all three backs are healthy that Dwyer will get the start against the Giants and Mike Tomlin will continue to ride the hot hand.
Fantasy Take: New York is 28th in the NFL in yards per carry allowed, so Dwyer looks like a solid RB2 play against the Giants, however Redman will likely play and Mendenhall is a possibility. Given that situation, the balls could end up being shared unless Dwyer gets off to a very hot start.
That's possible, but it's also a risk. Take notice of the active report on Sunday morning.
