Fantasy standout Matt Ryan named NFC Offensive Player of the Month

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on Thursday was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September. Ryan has guided the Falcons to a 4-0 start while passing for more than 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns. Ryan last week threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns in Atlanta's come-from-behind victory over the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons play the Washington Redskins in Week 5.

Fantasy Impact: Ryan has been a fantasy force through four games this season so the award isn't a surprise to fantasy owners who have him. The Falcons have shifted to a more pass-heavy offense this season to help Ryan take advantage of targets like Julio Jones, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. As long as everyone stays healthy, this should continue into Week 5 and for the rest of the season.
