Julian Edelman fantasy value unclear after missed practice Thursday

Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Julian Edelman missed Patriots practice Thursday with a hand injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Julian Edelman sat out New England Patriots practice Thursday with a hand injury that also sidelined him for last week's game against the Buffalo Bills. Edelman has yet to practice this week, casting doubt on his availability for Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: With Aaron Hernandez returning to practice Thursday and possibly in line for a Week 6 start, it will be interesting to see how individual roles shake out among the Pats' pass-catchers. Much to-do was made two weeks ago about Wes Welker possibly losing out on snaps to Edelman, and both could see fewer looks with Hernandez back in the fold at tight end. Until proven otherwise, Edelman appears to be the weakest fantasy option of the bunch. Within a prolific Patriots offense, he still has some value, though you have to be in deep league to make use of it.
