Christopher Hanewinckel-US PRESS - Presswire

Nate Kaeding is out for the Chargers' Week 5 matchup against the Saints after missing practice all week with a groin injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Nate Kaeding will miss a second straight game for the San Diego Chargers due to a groin injury, according to the team's official injury report released Friday. Nick Novak will be Chargers' kicker when they take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Kaeding owners will have to turn to a backup option for a second straight week. Novak apparently isn't a bad choice after he went 3-for-3 on field goals (2-for-2 beyond 40 yards) with four extra points during last week's win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Kaeding is worth snatching back up when he finally does return (and he insists he will). He is 7-for-7 on field goals this season, and 3-for-3 between 40 and 50 yards.
