Head coach Lovie Smith would like to commit to the run against one of the league's worst defenses. We break down the fantasy implications.
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte has dealt with injuries this season and he now has just 83 yards rushing since week 1 because of it. However, head coach Lovie Smith spoke about how Chicago would still like to be able to successfully establish the run in order to set the tempo for the offense: "First off, it’s just commitment," Smith said. "We have to do our part to keep the amount of carries up there. And from there, we just want to be productive.
The Bears might be 16th in the NFL in rushing yards, but that disguises an offense that gains only 3.4 yards per carry which ranks 28th. That could change today against the Jaguars 30th ranked rush defense.
Fantasy Take: Forte has been limited this week but he should be good to go. This could be his best opportunity so far this season to have a big game and it sounds like Smith and offensive coordinator Mike Tice are ready to hand him the ball. Start him without worry.
