The Redskins will have running back Ryan Grant active against the Falcons today. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Washington Redskins have activated running back Ryan Grant for today's game against the Atlanta Falcons, roughly two weeks after first signing him to add depth to their backfield. Washington has been looking for insurance behind rookie Alfred Morris since Roy Helu went on IR and Evan Royster has landed on the injury report with a knee injury. It's hard to say exactly how much that Grant will play right away, but we all know the volatility of head coach Mike Shanahan and his running back decisions. If Morris struggles and Grant excels, he could turn into a viable fantasy option.
Fantasy Take: Grant is familiar with the zone running scheme from his days in Green Bay and he ran for over 3,400 yards in his first three seasons. However, Morris has been a stud this season and it would be very surprising for even Shanahan to take the ball out of his hands very much for a 30-year-old back with just 142 carries since the start of 2010.
