Calvin Johnson sits out practice again, expected to be available for fantasy owners in Week 9

Dennis Wierzbicki-US PRESSWIRE

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) missed practice again on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was held out of practice again on Thursday because of a knee injury. Johnson has been slowed in recent weeks by the injury but has not missed any game action.

Johnson has just one touchdown through seven games this season and had just three catches in last weekend's win over the Seattle Seahawks. Johnson is not expected to miss Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners should not panic yet, as beat writers this week have said they expect Johnson to play on Sunday. Friday's injury report will be far more telling as to how seriously Johnson is hurt.

Assuming he is active, Johnson remains a must-start in all fantasy formats. Titus Young would see the biggest boost in fantasy value if Johnson is inactive on Sunday.
