Calvin Johnson injury: Missing practice as a precaution, fantasy value not in jeopardy

Jonathan Daniel

Megatron's knee is in pain, but how will it affect him? We break down the fantasy implications.

Calvin Johnson has not practiced this week, but explains that it is part of his regimen to relieve pain in his sore knee. The Lions trainers and staff have been cautious with the star receiver and it's more important that Megatron does not aggravate the knee injury any further in practice, so that he may be out there on game day to help his team when it matters.

Johnson has missed a lot of practice this season but has not missed a game. He has 41 catches for 638 yards.

Fantasy Take: This might be an okay time to put in a trade offer for Johnson since he only has one touchdown on the year. A frustrated owner might be willing to bite, not that you'd be able to get him at bargain basement prices; Johnson still has a lot of catches and yards, and is still possibly the best receiver in the game.

However, a knee issue, one score, and little production in the last two weeks might make it the perfect time to pounce. He should have a fine day against the Jaguars in Week 9.
