Steven Jackson rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries during Sunday's tie between the Rams and the 49ers. We break down the fantasy implications.
Steven Jackson rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's tie between the St. Louis Rams and the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson had 29 carries on the night. Daryl Richardson carried the ball just seven times, and picked up 58 yards rushing.
Jackson surpassed the 100-yard mark for the first time season against a Niners defense that had been giving up just 3.6 yards per carry on the season. He had his second rushing touchdown of the season. Both scores have come within the last three games.
Fantasy Impact: Jackson turned in a season-best fantasy performance against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Whoever was savvy enough to start him this weekend, and there weren't many, has to be happy that Jackson outperformed his projection.
It's not surprising that Jackson's big day came off the Rams' bye week. Richardson had taken on a near-equal role in the offense at one point because of Jackson's nicks and bruises. When healthy, it's clear that the Rams have a lot of faith in the veteran, however. Jackson could be a strong option over the second half of the season.
