Alex Smith concussion: Fantasy status unclear after being knocked out of Sunday's game

Alex Smith was knocked out of Sunday's tie between the 49ers and the Rams with a concussion. We break down the fantasy implications.

Alex Smith was knocked out of Sunday's tie between the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams in the second quarter with a concussion, according to reports. Collin Kaepernick finished the game under center, going 11-for-17 passing for 117 yards.

Smith was on his way to a solid outing before leaving. He went 7-for-8 passing for 72 yards with a second quarter touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree.

Fantasy Impact: A concussion is a touchy injury. As a lot of fantasy owners are aware, a player could miss zero time or an entire season with the ailment. Be sure to keep a sharp eye on injury reports this week as the 49ers prepare for the Chicago Bears in Week 11.

Smith has gone 25-for-27 passing over his last two outings combined, throwing four touchdown passes to zero interceptions. Those numbers came against the Arizona Cardinals and Rams, two teams with respectable defenses. It's safe to say that Smith is deserving of fantasy consideration in standard formats, but that's assuming he's healthy.
