Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE
All signs points towards a start for the Chargers running back. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego running back Ryan Mathews has been questionable this week with a neck injury, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are optimistic and that he's likely to play against the Broncos in Week 11. Mathews has not missed a game since returning in Week 3 and has handled a fair amount of touches this season.
If Mathews is a late scratch, Jackie Battle could see his most touches since Week 4, when he had 81 total yards and two touchdowns.
Fantasy Take: Though the talent is apparent, how long can fantasy owners maintain trust in Mathews' health or effectiveness? He has not topped 100 yards rushing in any game this season and he has just one touchdown while being mostly unproductive in the passing game. The more carries he gets in a game, the lower his yards per carry are.
Denver is second in the NFL in yards per carry allowed. Mathews' value this week is not very high, and he's a flex play at best.
