Cam Newton comes up short in Week 11: Fantasy Implications

Streeter Lecka

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton failed to generate enough offense to win on Sunday. We breakdown the fantasy implications.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton could not get it going for his team on offense in Week 11. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Panthers QB had all sorts of trouble. And while he didn't turn the ball over, it wasn't the game-winning effort they needed from Newton.

The missed connection between him and star wide out Steve Smith continued in yet another loss.

Fantasy Analysis: Cam Newton was a stud in his rookie year in 2011, lighting up the stat sheets and fantasy leagues. The Panthers QB is undergoing what is commonly referred to as "the sophomore slump," and it has affected his fantasy value.

Newton is a good start week to week because of his ceiling and all-purpose ability. However, his inability to score touchdowns and manifest big plays this year is bothersome.
