Alex Smith practices in non-contact jersey, again: Fantasy Implications

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith (concussion) practices in black non-contact jersey again. We breakdown the fantasy implications.

On Friday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith (concussion) practiced in a black non-contact jersey. Coupled with the news that broke Thursday evening via SI.com's Jim Trotter, it's pretty clear that Smith will not start in Week 12.

On Sunday, fans can expect second-year passer Colin Kaepernick to start behind center for the 49ers. It will be his second ever career start, and first ever road start.

Fantasy Analysis: Alex Smith was well on his way to having his best year as a pro. Unfortunately, it looks like the concussion he sustained in the game versus St. Louis Rams at the hands of Jo-Lon Dunbar could be career threatening.

Smith will not have any fantasy value in Week 12, as he will be watching the game from the bench. And if Kaepernick continues to shine, you might as well call it a season for Smith.
