Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Newton threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He also ran for 52 yards and two touchdowns.
Newton has now thrown for more than 300 yards three times this season. Monday's game was the first this season in which Newton had run for more than one touchdown. The Panthers face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.
Fantasy Impact: Newton's effort in Week 12 was arguably his best of the season, although it may have come too late for some fantasy owners. Newton was drafted high in a lot of leagues because he's capable of having games like this. There just haven't been as many of them this season.
Newton, however, could be in for another big game against Kansas City and should be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback for Week 13.
