Michael Turner has become accustomed to getting the most snaps at running back for the Atlanta Falcons. However, that is no longer a sure thing headed into Thursday's game with the New Orleans Saints. In Week 12, Jacquizz Rodgers played 31 offensive snaps against Tampa Bay compared to Turner's 23. Rodgers finished with 79 combined yards and a touchdown, while Turner finished with 30 and a short touchdown run.
Coach Mike Smith said this week (via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution) that Rodgers was a "very viable option" and that having two running back has become "more of the vogue thing to do."
Fantasy Impact: The Falcons have not been able to run the ball consistently with Turner this season and adding Rodgers into their pass-heavy attack has helped. Turner should still get chances around the goal line but that doesn't always mean touchdowns as Atlanta proved in its only loss of the season in New Orleans.
Turner is a mid-to-low No. 2 fantasy running back for Week 13, while Rodgers falls into the same range because of his increased playing time.
