Mike Tolbert injury: Full practice signals Week 10 start, fantasy owners still looking elsewhere

Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

Nothing is going wright in Carolina, so don't expect much from the fullback. We break down the fantasy implications.

As a sometimes-replacement of Ryan Mathews in San Diego, Mike Tolbert scored 19 touchdowns on four yards per carry over the 2010-11 seasons. That's not what he is for the Panthers, having carried the ball just 20 times in eight games behind DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and quarterback Cam Newton.

Still, the Panthers would rather have him than not have him and after a full practice Thursday following a concussion in Week 9, he's expected to start at fullback against the Broncos on Sunday.

Fantasy Take: Tolbert could steal a touchdown from one of the starters, but he has no value. The Panthers will likely abandon any plays that use a fullback if they fall into a big hole against a better team.
