Mike Wallace had seven receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the Steelers' loss to the Chargers on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Mike Wallace had seven receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns during the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Wallace was targeted 11 times as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made his return from a serious rib injury.
Wallace went over 100 yards receiving for just the second time this season, and the first time since Week 3 against the Oakland Raiders. He had multiple touchdown receptions for the first time this season.
Fantasy Impact: Wallace struggled mightily when Roethlisberger was forced to the sidelines for three weeks. He was an immediate beneficiary of the starting quarterback's return, catching touchdown passes of 40 yards and 11 yards.
Fantasy owners should temper their enthusiasm for Wallace's big day a little bit going forward. Wallace was a boom-or-bust fantasy option even before Roethlisberger was hurt. His fantasy prospects certainly look much better going forward than they did a week ago, however. Consider Wallace a safe WR2/Flex option.
