Wes Welker has 10 catches at half against the Dolphins
Wes Welker has turned his 13 first-half targets into 10 receptions for 89 yards and a TD against the Dolphins on Sunday. He has a shot to challenge the record for most catches in a game (21).
Welker entered the game with 80 catches on 115 targets for 961 yards and three TDs. Welker also came in with back-to-back games with seven catches and hasn't gone over 100 yards or seven catches on his last five games. In fact, Welker averaged just 67 yards per game in his last five.
The absence of Rob Gronkowski combined with Aaron Hernandez should make Welker Tom Brady's favorite target by a country mile. Plus, the Dolphins also have a stout run defense this year, so the Patriots are obviously focusing on their aerial attack.
Welker should continue to be a monster for the rest of the season and even though there could be some weather to influence owners' decision, the short passes to Welker shouldn't be hurt too much. He'll be a WR1 for the rest of the way.
