Calvin Johnson with 70 yards in the first quarter: Fantasy Implications

USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson accumulated 70 receiving yards in the first quarter. We breakdown the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions wide out Calvin Johnson has already accumulated three receptions for 70 yards, after only 15 minutes of play. Johnson is averaging 23.0 yards per catch right now and is well on his way to breaking Jerry Rice's single-season receiving record at this rate.

While the Lions are not doing well as a whole so far, Johnson is off to a good start.

Fantasy Analysis: Johnson is just a phenomenal athlete. He is so difficult for defenses to contain, and he can really do it all. Owners of CJ have been more than satisfied with his ability to gather chunks of yardage at a time.

He is on pace for a monster game and could help owners secure a fantasy championship in 2012.
