While both could be on their way out of New York, the Jets still feel they need them on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
The New York Jets benched Mark Sanchez in favor of Greg McElroy and not Tim Tebow, but for the first time all season, all three quarterbacks are active in the same game. Not only are all three active, but apparently both Sanchez and Tebow are listed as the number two quarterback on the Jets flip card, making them equally inadequate to start.
Sanchez has finally been demoted after several years of incomplete passes and interceptions, culminating in his worst season to date with 54.8% completions, 13 TD and 17 INT as the Jets fell out of the playoff race. Tebow was traded for in the offseason to back up Sanchez, but has been an apparent waste to the offense and the reason for his presence is quite mysterious. Multiple reports say that Tebow is guaranteed to go to the Jaguars after the season, despite not being good enough to replace Sanchez.
McElroy has become the default answer and will make his first career start. He is 5-of-7 on the year for 29 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT. The Jets will have an interesting quandary on their hands in the offseason, though Sanchez's contract may force them to keep him around, albeit as an expensive backup after they search for a new starter.
Fantasy Take: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
