Nicks was held to five receptions for 43 yards despite 10 targets during the Giants' loss to the Redskins on Monday Night Football. We break down the fantasy implications.
Hakeem Nicks was held to five receptions for 43 yards during the New York Giants' loss to the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. He was targeted a team-high 10 times, but had fewer yards than Martellus Bennett and Victor Cruz.
Nicks has not had more than 77 yards receiving since returning from foot and knee injuries in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. He has just one touchdown reception over his last seven games played.
Fantasy Impact: The best you can say about Nicks' performance is that it wasn't a total dud in PPR leagues. That's not good enough for fantasy owners who drafted the wideout as a WR1 in preaseon drafts, however. Nicks is worth holding on to in the hope that he wakes up late in the season. Eli Manning is certainly giving him opportunities to produce.
Next week's matchup against the New Orleans Saints should be a prime matchup for Nicks. A potential shootout against a bad defense looks like a fantasy gold mine on paper. Nicks has burned a lot of goodwill, but he is at least a Flex option this week on upside alone.
