Vincent Brown confirmed Wednesday that he probably won't return to the San Diego Chargers this season, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Brown was placed on injured reserve after breaking his ankle in preseason, but was designated for a possible return late in the year.
Brown has yet to practice in any capacity since suffering the injury on a touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys. He has played in 14 regular season games since being selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He had 19 receptions for 329 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie.
Fantasy Impact: Brown could have served a pivotal role this season for an offense in need of a receiver to move the chains. The Chargers signed Eddie Royal to potentially be that guy, but he has spent the entire year dealing with hamstring problems.
We will have to wait until 2013 to see whether Brown can make any kind of fantasy impact. Until then, Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander are the only Chargers' receivers worth relying on for any consistent production.
