After missing the past three games, the Steelers expect to get their starter back. We break down the fantasy implications.
The value of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder, ribs) has been quite evident in the three games that he has missed as Pittsburgh went 1-2 and averaged only 15.6 points per game in his absence. It looks as though he will finally return this week against the San Diego Chargers and that positive speculation is confirmed by Adam Schefter today.
Roethlisberger has completed 66.1% of his passes for 2,287 yards, 17 TD and 4 INT in nine starts. Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch combined to throw 1 TD and 5 INT as his replacements, with Leftwich suffering his own injury.
Fantasy Take: Any fantasy owner of a Steelers player can breathe a huge sigh of relief today. Roethlisberger is having a very good season and those other players are very bad, especially Batch who was so shocked that he won a game that he broke down in tears against the Ravens on Sunday.
If healthy, Roethlisberger could be a decent bet for fantasy, but Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace are also on the injury report.
