Maurice Jones-Drew has been ruled out for Sunday. Should you feel comfortable starting Montell Owens?
Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) did not practice all week and has been ruled out against the Jets on Sunday. He has not timetable to return.
MJD has disappointed fantasy owners this year with 414 rushing yards and two TDs after he led the league in rushing last year. There's certainly a chance that those will be his final stats on the year.
Fantasy Impact: Jones-Drew said that a few weeks ago he could make it back by Week 13, but it's obvious that his ailing foot in nowhere near close to 100 percent. The Jaguars are already looking ahead to next season and one could speculate that Jones-Drew isn't going to want to play without the lucrative contract he desired this past offseason.
Montell Owens is expected to take over in the starting role and is worth a look as a RB2 this week against the Jets. He's a capable pass-catching back, so PPR leagues may be more enticed to give him a shot.
