Rashard Mendenhall inactive: Long-term fantasy prospects dim after healthy scratch

Rashard Mendenhall is a healthy scratch for Sunday's game between the Steelers and the Chargers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Rashard Mendenhall has been ruled inactive for Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers despite not appearing on the Steelers' injury report this week. Mendenhall has been a healthy scratch two weeks in a row.

Jonathan Dwyer is expected to once against start out of the backfield for Pittsburgh. He had 16 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown last week against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Impact: Mendenhall's two lost fumbles in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns were bad, but at this point Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has to be punishing the running back for more than just slippery fingers. Mendenhall has no discernible fantasy value for the rest of the season now that the Steelers appear to (finally) have a feature back in Dwyer.
