Mikel Leshoure has been ruled out of the Detroit Lions' preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury suffered at the beginning of training camp, the team's official site reports. Leshoure is suffering from a hamstring strain. Jahvid Best (concussion) and defensive ends Cliff Avril (neck) and Kyle Vanden Bosch (knee) have also been ruled out.
Analysis: Leshoure's status is somewhat frustrating considering how little is known about the second-year running back. He missed his rookie season with a torn ACL, and now is hobbling back from a hamstring injury. Leshoure could be very valuable if healthy considering the strong passing game he has for support. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, that means taking a flyer on him sight unseen. With Jahvid Best on the physically unable to perform list, Kevin Smith remains the Lions' only draftable running back prospect.
