Bengals Release WR Jordan Shipley

The Bengals made their first major cut of the season in WR Jordan Shipley. We break down the fantasy implications.

In the first major training camp cut of the season, the Cincinnati Bengals have released WR Jordan Shipley after he struggled to come back from an ACL injury. After 52 catches for 600 yards in 2010, Shipley blew out his knee last September, and in the ensuing recovery got lost behind Brandon Tate, Armon Binns, Andrew Hawkins, Mohammed Sanu and Marvin Jones in the roster shuffle.

Analysis: Tough break for Shipley, who had a promising start back in 2010 but his knee just wouldn't heal up properly, and the Bengals have too many bodies at receiver to waste a roster spot on him. Hopefully he catches on somewhere else.

As for Cincy, they still have to figure out the pecking order behind A.J. Green. Tate is considered the favorite to start at the No. 2 spot, but they still haven't ruled out a potential rotation both here and in the slot. This position is far from decided.
