Mendenhall is expected to miss the Steelers' regular season opener despite being activated from the PUP list Friday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Rashard Mendenhall is expected to miss the Pittsburgh Steelers' regular season opener, and perhaps most of September according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mendenhall was activated from the physically unable to perform list Friday. He has been sidelined since January after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Analysis: Good luck trying to figure out where to take Isaac Redman and Mendenhall in your fantasy draft now. If Mendenhall had been shelved for the first six weeks of the regular season as expected, a flyer on Redman in the middle rounds could be considered a pretty sound investment. Now there is no apparent favorite to carry the load in Pittsburgh, especially with Redman now dealing with an injury of his own. The Steelers' running back situation is dicey to say the least. Keep a watchful out for word on Mendenhall's progress, and how carries are expected to be divvied up in the near future.
