David Garrard and wide receiver Brian Hartline are among the Miami Dolphins inactives for Friday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Joining them on the sideline will be OLB Kevin Burnett, ILB Karlos Dansby, FS Kelcie McCray, OG Eric Steinbach, DE Cameron Wake, DT Tony McDaniel and RB Jonas Gray.
Analysis: Garrard is no surprise. The veteran quarterback will miss two to four more weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, leaving Matt Moore and rookie Ryan Tannehill to vie for the starting job. Hartline, meanwhile, has sat since late July with a calf injury. While his spot on the roster appears safe, he may not be as productive as many projected after last season. The Dolphins have several young players currently impressing at practice, including Chris Hogan of "Hard Knocks" fame.
