Santonio Holmes is inactive for the Jets tonight among others. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes is inactive tonight against the Giants with a rib injury, as expected. It's been reported already that Holmes could miss the entire preseason because of it. Also inactive tonight per Josh Newman on Twitter are WR Chaz Schilens and WR Jeremy Kerley (Hamstring.)
Fantasy Implications: Holmes had just 51 catches for 654 yards last season but caught 8 touchdowns. It's hard to expect much from any Jets receivers this season with Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow as the possible starters in 2012 but the injury just pushes Holmes further down the draft boards if the injury lingers into the year. Kerley caught 29 passes for 314 yards last season and also returned 29 punts. New York is already very thin on experienced players in the wide receiver corps, so any time missed for Holmes could make it even tougher for the Jets to move the ball through the air.
