49ers LB Aldon Smith is back in practice and could play next Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
CSN Bay Area is reporting that 49ers LB Aldon Smith was back in practice on Monday in full pads. Smith missed one game and about a week of practice after suffering a bruised hip in the preseason opener on August 10, and spent most of last week on crutches, but he appears to have a "strong chance to get playing time" in next Sunday's game.
Analysis: Smith recorded 14 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in a sensational rookie season that helped push the Niners to the cream of the crop in fantasy defense. His hip injury looked bad at first as he was carted off the field, but he seems to be fine now and fantasy owners shouldn't panic. He's still a solid IDP pick and part of a defensive unit you may actually want to draft before the last round.
