Michael Turner Could See Increased Role In Passing Game: Fantasy Implications

Michael Turner may see more targets in the passing game this year than he ever has before. We break down the fantasy implications.

Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner has struggled in the running game in the preseason and is expected to get fewer rushing yards with the team leaning heavier towards Matt Ryan and the passing game. However, head coach Mike Smith is insistent that Turner is still their number one back and that he'll be more involved in the Falcons passing offense, despite just 51 career catches in eight seasons.

Fantasy Implications: Turner's stock has been way down based on reports about Atlanta's changing offense and his poor preseason performance (14 yards on eight carries) but he could regain some value if he's able to successfully grab more balls out of the backfield. He had a career-high of 17 catches for 168 yards last season and though backup Jacquizz Rodgers might have an increased role, it appears that Turner could be a sleeper pick as an RB2.
