Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe is among four Jaguars starters that will miss Thursday night's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, coach Mike Mularkey told the media on Tuesday afternoon. Monroe will be joined on the sidelines by linebacker Daryl Smith, cornerback Derek Cox and guard Will Rackley. Monroe is recovering from a concussion he received in practice last week, while Rackley has a high ankle sprain. The Jaguars' offensive line has struggled to stay in one piece throughout training camp.
Analysis: Despite the absence of Maurice Jones-Drew and nagging injuries to starters on the offensive line, the Jaguars' offense has looked like an improved unit through two preseason games. Thursday night's contest with the Ravens will prove to be the offense's biggest challenge yet, but early signs are promising. Blaine Gabbert appears poised for a big jump in his second season, and the running game has not lagged behind despite the setbacks. Once the Jaguars are completely healthy, they could have a formidable offense.
