Doug Martin has looked fantastic and he looks like a lock to get the bulk of the carries. We break down the fantasy implications.
Doug Martin has "taken another step" for the Buccaneers as the team's leading running back, according to the Tampa Bay Times. He carried the ball 13 times for 53 yards and a touchdown in the team's win over New England on Friday night.
Analysis: Most fantasy owners knew about this story months ago, but it's certainly nice to get confirmation on one of the hottest players in fantasy drafts. The Tampa Bay Times also added that "something about it felt permanent," so there is obvioulsy plenty of keeper appeal with the Boise State rookie. On the downside, the loss of Davin Joseph (knee) for the season does limit the upside for the potential bell cow. Martin should be the first rookie taken off the board in redrafts and it wouldn't be considered as a reach to grab him in the second round of your draft. We have Martin currently ranked 12th for standard leagues on our Running Back Rankings. The Bucs will take on the soft Carolina run D for Week 1.
