Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee rushed for 27 yards on seven carries against the normally stout San Francisco 49ers rush defense on Sunday. He also recorded one reception for 12 yards. All in all, in limited time, McGahee accumulated 39 yards in an offense that people expect to be pass-heavy.
Analysis: Willis McGahee had a strong year in 2011, and surprised a lot of people by carrying Denver's ground game. This team will not be running nearly as much as they did last season but the presence of Peyton Manning does add value to McGahee. With Manning, defenses will no longer be able to stack the box against Denver, which should open opportunities for the running backs. Willis McGahee will also have a lot of opportunities to gain all-purpose yards in this offense.
