Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford broke a blood vessel in his left hand on Saturday against the Oakland Raiders but ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Stafford is expected to be ready for the season-opener against the St. Louis Rams. Stafford was injured when the hand collided with a helmet on an incomplete pass.
Analysis: There is no reason to adjust Stafford's position in quarterback rankings. He threw for more than 5,000 yards last season and should be a Top 5 fantasy quarterback this season. He will again be counted on to do a lot because the Lions still don't have a settled answer at running back, so look for Stafford to have to find Calvin Johnson and others in the passing game. That will be good for fantasy owners who drafted Stafford early banking on another big season with the Lions.
