Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has started going through slight resistance training, Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com reports. Witten suffered a lacerated spleen in the opening game of the preseason for the Cowboys. He status for Week 1 is still uncertain but he is scheduled to visit the doctor again on Tuesday. Dallas opens the season Sept. 5 against the New York Giants.
Analysis: Witten hasn't missed a lot of playing time in his career, so he will likely push as hard as he can to be out there in the season-opener. Until something is decided, fantasy owners who draft Witten should have a backup plan in place for the first few weeks of the season. Witten remains a Top 10 fantasy tight end and should contribute plenty by the time the season wraps up. If Witten is on the field, Tony Romo isn't going to stop looking for him.
