The Seahawks and Pete Carroll have announced that quarterback Matt Flynn will play on Thursday night against the Oakland Raiders, in relief of starter Russell Wilson. Flynn sat out the last preseason game against the Chiefs with a sore elbow. The team announced earlier this week that Wilson would be the starter for the Seahawks week one game against the Cardinals after a strong showing as the starter last week against Kansas City. Flynn will be the team's backup quarterback after having traded Tarvaris Jackson to the Bills.
Fantasy Implications: The teams big announcement this week was of course that Wilson would start, but that doesn't mean that Flynn won't play at all this year. Just the fact that Wilson is a rookie and that players get hurt every day should be enough for Flynn to be aware that he could be asked to step in at any time and it let's the Seahawks feel better that Flynn is healthy, knowing that Josh Portis is now their only other QB on the active roster.
