Blaine Gabbert has reportedly outplayed Chad Henne during Jacksonville Jaguars training camp practices, according to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. Gabbert also apparently had a solid showing last Friday. The second-year quarterback out of Missouri is set to play 17 to 20 snaps during the Jags' preseason opener against the New York Giants on Friday.
Analysis: Gabbert's fine performance in training camp so far is even more impressive when you consider that first-round draft pick Justin Blackmon hadn't been in practice until Thursday. Henne signed on with the Jags in March as a veteran backup who could start in case Gabbert still wasn't ready for a primetime. While early returns indicate that Gabbert might be able to handle the role on his own, you will probably want to avoid being too bullish on his fantasy draft stock based on his extremely rocky rookie season.
